RED DRESS FEVER

Red dresses are definitely having a moment, well for me they are anyway. I've got myself well and truly hooked with some fab sale purchases. And now I want them all; long, short, ruffled....the possibilities are endless.

Like I said the red dress trend has got me, I just couldn't resist the sale bargains. Number one is this fabulous maxi dress from New Look, with buttons up the front and shirred sleeves. I got it in store and paid just £12!! It's since sold out online but is still available on the ASOS website, unfortunately not at sale price but believe me it is worth it. It's a firm blogger favorite at the moment and looks fab with wedges and basket bags. I've styled it here with a night out in mind so have mixed it up with a jacquard bag and some midi heels. I sized down in this one so it would fit slightly better around the chest area.

Button Front Maxi Dress  New Look @ ASOS  £27.99 (in-store sale £12.00)
Pink Floral Jacquard Box Bag  New Look  £15.99
High Heel Sandals with Ankle Strap Zara  £9.99

Now if we're talking red dresses I couldn't not go for this one, could I ?! It's another fashionista favourite and I love it, but this is also probably why it has sold out online so quickly. The linen fabric is so comfortable to wear and will be perfect for summer evenings, it has a belt attached to the waist which you can wear to the front, the back or wrap it around. I took this one in a size up as I found it more comfortable and easier to get on and off. It is still available in some stores but if you can't get your hands on it then there's plenty more where that came from....

Ruffled Linen Dress  Mango  £19.99 (was £35.99)
Pom Pom Basket  (sold out)  similar here
Wedges  (old)  similar here

This one from Mango (below) is a favourite of mine and is a fabulous alternative to the one above. I love the soft levels of fabric and the flared sleeves. It would be perfect as styled below on a sunny evening on holiday. Or you could style it with heels for a more glam look and even with flats for during the day.

Metal Pendant Earrings  Mango  £9.99
Flared Sleeve Dress  Mango  £59.99
Platform Strap Sandals  Mango  £59.99

Whether it's for an occasion, a holiday or just an easy everyday throw on dress you're after, don't be afraid to stand out in red. I've found some options perfect for everyone, day and night.

V-Neck Dress  Zara  £12.99
Frilled Sleeve Dress  Zara  £29.99
Cold Shoulder Smock Dress  Pimkie @ ASOS  £24.99
Poplin High Neck Shirt Dress  Topshop  £39.00
Tie Front Tea Dress  Topshop  £29.00

The smock dress (above) from ASOS would be great to throw on over a bikini on holiday or just as easily dressed up with some gold accessories for evening. It also has a fail safe 'smock dress' fit which would cover any lumps and bumps you're worried about showing off and has the sleeve detailing to cover the top of your arms.

Emilia Red Linen Button Down Midi Dress  Urban Outfitters  £56.00
Flounced Crepe Dress  H&M  £24.99
Red Bow Front Split Midi Dress  New Look  £24.99
Ruffled Dress  Mango  £29.99

These summer dresses (above) are easily made more versatile by adding a simple white tee underneath. Or add a band tee and a pair of converse for an easy day to day style.

Ring Flowy Dress  Mango  £49.99
Mini Dress with Ruffled Sleeves  Zara  £29.99
Dress with Asymmetric Ruffle  Zara  £29.99

If it's ultimate glamour you're after; just add ruffles and frills. Keep the rest of your outfit simple and let your dress do the talking. Or for real fashionista vibes clash a bright red with orange or pink.

And of course you'll have to take some photos and more importantly you'll have to channel 'that' emoji!! Don't be shy ladies.....

SHORT SHORTS

Urrmm have you seen the weather forecast?! Sun, sun, sun, oh yes it looks like summer has arrived. This means I can finally get some wear out of all those summer pieces I have been slowly accumulating. And for me sunny days mean legs out; all day, everyday. So I thought I would do a quick post and share with you my new 'short shorts' buys; which includes the following.....some stripes, some florals and all the tropical vibes you'll need this summer. With some style inspo and lots of similar alternatives along the way.

Femme Forever T-Shirt  Topshop  £15.00
Flowing Skort with Daisies  Zara  £19.99
Geometric Bucket bag with Braided Handle  Zara  £29.99
Sandals  Primark  £8.00  (similar here)

My first pair are these gorgeous red floral ones from Zara. They are what some may call a 'skort', which in reality just means they are a short that looks a little like a skirt. These ones have a little wrap-over detail on the front with a tie fastening to add the skirt element. For me this is perfect for mummy days and definitely helps to keeps my modesty intact whilst running around after a toddler. I found they come up true to size and went for a 'M' (average size 10/12). So far I have been styling them with slogan tees but I'm also very tempted by the co-ord top to dress the look up a little.

Flowing Skort with Daisies  Zara  £19.99

If these aren't your style though here's my pick of the best of the rest available now on the high-street;

Red Tropical Print Shorts  New Look  £15.99
Tie Waist Floral Shorts  SheIn  £12.80
Crochet Trim Floral Printed Shorts  Miss Selfridge @ ASOS  £20.00

My second pair is this gorgeous stripey number. I couldn't believe the price on these ones given the fabulous quality and fit. They also come in a few different colour options which I may still be tempted by. These also came up true to size (finally some continuity in the Zara sizing). I would love to see these paired with neutrals for a slightly nautical look but they could also easily be styled with clashing patterns and florals.

Shoulder Bag  H&M  £17.99
Jersey Flouce-Sleeved Top  H&M  £12.99
Pleated Bermuda Shorts with Bow  Zara  £19.99
Light Brown Suede Heeled Mules  New Look  £29.99

Tailoring Shorts with Bow Belt  Bershka  £15.99
Belted Linen Short in Stripe  ASOS  £22.00
Shorts with Scalloped Hems  H&M  £24.99

Last but not least my third pair of patterned shorties, also from Zara (no surprises there really), is this gorgeous pair of high waisted shorts with ruffle detailing. They have complete tropical vibes to them which I love and is so on trend at the moment. They do come up quite short but the ruffle detailing helps to distract the eye and means they are flattering to all. I took them again in a 'M' and can't wait to wear them this weekend. I love how versatile these ones are thanks to the pattern. Think heels and darker shades for night time glam, or for a casual look add some brights and some slides.

Box Pleat Bardot Top  Topshop  £32.00
Round Sunglasses  &Other Stories  £25.00
Flat Satin Lace-Up Sandals  Zara  £29.99
Ruffled Floral Print Bermuda Shorts  Zara  £19.99

Frilled Satin Shorts  H&M  £29.99
Flowing Printed Shorts Stradivarius  £9.99
Tropical Floral Print Co-Ord Shorts  ASOS  £28.00
Tropical Print Shorts  Mango  £19.99

Hopefully I've inspired you to get your pins out, don't be shy! Summer fashion is all about having fun, playing around with colours and clashing prints. I'll be wearing all these pairs over the next couple of weeks so check out my instagram for all my looks. Until then here's a little more style inspo just in case you haven't made your mind up yet.

JUMP ON THE JUMPSUIT

I must say I do love a jumpsuit, it's such an easy throw on for day or night. This time of year is all about those florals and I fell in love with this pattern as soon as I saw it. I just love the colours, with the black making it not too girly but the flowers making it just girly enough. I also love the double strap detailing on this one and the light fabric is perfect for spring/summer.

Strappy Floral Jumpsuit  Topshop  £42.00 (Petite)

I will be dressing my jumpsuit up with black and white heels for a night out with my girls. To go a little smarter but still stay glam I would go for pink heels and statement earrings. I took my usual size in this which is a size 10 but be warned it was a very odd fit. I went for the petite in the end because the proportions of it seemed to fit me much better. I always find with jumpsuits it's best to try a few sizes, ignore what the label says and just go for what feels comfortable on you.

White Leather-Look Foldover Bag  New Look  £7.99
Shoes  (old) Topshop

For an easy daytime look with a jumpsuit the first rule is; add a basic tee. To be honest this rule can apply just as easily to summer dresses. A t-shirt will help dress the look down and add some depth to your look. Or if its not all that warm out, adding an extra layer can mean you can wear all those summer pieces that little bit earlier. Then all you need is your trainers, and you're good to go.

Wide T-Shirt  H&M  £8.99
Trainers  H&M  £19.99

If you fancy yourself a piece of the action then how about one of these alternatives, all available right now on the high street;

Climbing Rose Jumpsuit  Warehouse @ ASOS  £55.00
Cami Satin Jumpsuit with Lace Up Front in Floral Print  ASOS  £40.00
Black Floral Print Wide Leg Jumpsuit  New Look  £29.99
Black Lou Lou Floral Ruffle Jumpsuit  Nobody's Child  £28.00
Floral Jumpsuit  Topshop  £39.00
Floral Print Jumpsuit  Zara  £49.99
Leaves Print Jumpsuit  Zara  £29.99
Floral Print Jumpsuit  Mango  £49.99

And if you're still not convinced here is a little style inspo to help you make your mind up;
