I GOT IT FOR MY MAMA...

Mothers Day 2017 is coming....Sunday 26th March to be precise. For me being a mum is nothing to do with expecting expensive presents though. Each day I am so grateful and thankful just to get the chance to have my daughter, to look after her, love her and above all else enjoy her. As a daughter though of course I want to spoil my mum because I am so grateful to her for everything she has done and still does for me everyday.

So I've had a little think about what I would have on my wishlist, if I had one, which of course I do. Make sure you treat your mum this Mothers Day, she wont expect it but she most definitely deserves it. Buy her something with meaning and a little bit of thought behind it. I have chosen these brands to share with you because they are all founded by women who want to create something for other women and spread a little love.

Mother's Day Limited Edition - The Merci Maman Necklace
£49.00
*personalise with names or a message of your choice

First up lets talk jewellery; how can you not fall totally in love with a piece of handcrafted, personalised just for you, piece of art to wear day in day out. I love all the Merci Maman collection but for mothers day they really do come in to their own. It means 'thank you mummy' and the company was set up by a french mummy living in London back in 2007. It started with just her at her kitchen table, but the team has now grown and her husband has got in on the act too. The Duchess of Cambridge no less has an engraved necklace with her children's initials on it, so you'd most definitely be in good company with this one.

I already have a personalised Merci Maman necklace I got for Christmas with a message engraved on it and I wear it every single day (check out my Instagram). Although if my husbands reading this; I'm always in the market for some more!

Carrie Elizabeth is based in London, and was set up by an experienced fashion and jewellery buyer to bridge the gap between 'fashion' and 'fine' jewellery. Everything is ethically sourced and in my opinion absolutely beautiful. I love the initial necklaces and have my eye on the 'D' as it is my daughters initial. For lots more designs use the links above to head over to the website.

Lines & Current is a minimal jewellery and accesories brand using clean lines and simplicity but still maintaining absolute beauty in every piece. Perfect for mums who lead busy lives and want to strip it back to basics sometimes. '10% of all profits also go to causes that bring about hope and change in peoples lives'. I love the Open Circle Ring, and have it at the top of my wishlist at the moment. The necklace I have chosen, is a choker length so is a perfect gift for anyone who likes to stack their necklaces - also on my wishlist!

If jewellery isn't your mums thing though then how about some fashion with a difference.

Tease and Totes believe in using fashion as a medium to distribute messages of empowering women and children far and wide, something I very much agree with. Follow the link above to their website to find more statement tops available in sizes for you and your mini me. I for one love a bit of Girl Power and would love to empower my daughter with that too. Not only that but the white tee with red graphics is hot right now in the fashion stakes.

The FMLY Store is for the whole family, set up by the founder of Selfish Mother; Molly Gunn and her husband; Tom Mangan. All the Selfish Mother tees raise funds for charities to raise funds for women in war-torn regions. Head over to the website for more products for the whole family including many collaborations with other fabulous brands. I might just have to get myself one of these tees to shout from the rooftops; I am a Mother, I am winging it everyday (oh yes) and I am loving it. But more important than that, I love that by doing that I am also helping out another mother who is far less fortunate than me, such a worthy cause.

Yes Mum Cards @ The FMLY Store
YesMum Cards  £10.50

Set up by Hollie De Cruz, YesMum cards are a perfect present for any mum or mum to be. Little fist pump moments of affirmation to embrace all day. Use a simple habit of positive thoughts to change your mind set and know that on a daily basis, you are capable and you are bloody amazing. Because we all know that being a mum is not an easy job and sometimes we just need a little reminder that 'Everything is going to be ok' . Check this brand out, I am most certainly going to get myself some of these cards and will join in sharing the positivity with the hashtag #yesmumcards .

Founded by friends; Dominique and Rebecca who became mummies at the same time and found themselves with that age old dilemma; the Changing bag!? Finding one that is stylish and practical believe me is real problem. So they set out to make their bag dreams a reality. All the products are made out of beautiful fabrics with all the needs of both mum and baby incorporated. If you know someone that is a mummy-to-be or a mummy in a need of a bit of a lift these fabulous little bags are a perfect choice for the fashion conscious mums out there. I think this clutch would very quickly turn in to something you can't remember how you ever lived without.

I really believe in what all these brands are trying to achieve, because being a mummy is about so many different things for different people. But at the same time we all have that certain something in common and should give each other a little pat on the back this Sunday to simply say; well done, you're doing a good job. Like I said though I don't really need gifts to say thank you, I'd be just as happy with a bunch of daffodils and a hand made card from my little girl. Sometimes it's the smallest things that can mean so much.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mummies out there - you're all bloody fabulous!

DINGLE DANGLE, SHIMMER AND SHINE

Gold, silver, sparkles or jewels, this season its all about hanging it from your ears. Earrings are hot property right now and believe me when I say more is more. When I've been speaking to people about this trend though it seems people either love it or hate it. But this season be brave, try something new and mix things up a little, you might just like it.

Earrings  H&M  £6.99

The firm favourite at the moment with fashionistas is gold. We're talking drop earrings with hammered detaiing, swirls and twists. If bigger isn't better for you though, then why not try a small hoop for easy daytime wear. I love a gold earring with an oversized blue and white striped shirt and ripped denim.

Made Oval Drop Earrings  Whistles  £25.00

After Dark Knocker Earring  Free People  £32.00
Gold Fan Twist Earrings  New Look  £5.99
Gold Textured Twist Drop Earrings  New Look  £5.99
Swirl Drop Earrings  Topshop  £7.00
Made Small Hexagopn Hoops  Whistles  £20.00

**Style Tip...I found some gold hexagonal hoops almost identical to this Whistles pair in Primark for just £2.00 this week. They possibly won't last as long but for just a couple of quid, you can always buy 2 pairs!

Another big trend at the moment is tasseled earrings. Check out the in-store H&M sale for some absolute bargains. I picked up some gold hoops with pink tassels for just £1.00!! To play the tassels down during the day stick to neutral tones and add to khaki and beige outfits for a chic daytime look.

Pretty Poms Tassel Statement Earrings  Kate Spade  £88.00
Occasion Strand Tassel Earrings  ASOS  £12.00
Tassels Pendant Earrings  Mango  £12.99

Hoops will always be big news, this year though they've doubled up and gone super size with some added dazzle.

Statement Hoop Earrings  Marks & Spencer  £12.50
Tassel Hoop Earring  Whistles  £25.00
Window Arrow Earrings  Stella & Dot  £40.00
Multi-Hoop Earrings  Zara  £12.99
Black Half Circle Drop Earrings  New Look  £4.99

If you want to really go all out and bring some sparkle to the occasion then go for the ultimate chandelier earring. Mix and match colours with your outfit or to really make them pop, style with all black.

Bug Crystal Earring  Mango  £12.99
Flower Pendant Earrings  Mango  £12.99
Gemstone Pendant Earrings  &Other Stories  £19.00
Taking Shapes Statement Earrings  Kate Spade  £115.00

Don't be afraid to add a little sparkle to your outfit this season. The high street has some real bargains on offer so it'd be rude not too really, I guarantee you'll get some compliments. If you like something, don't over think it, just wear it.

LIFE IS SHORT, BUY THE SHOES!

Don't you love it when a shoe divides opinion. As if they are that important!?....well maybe a little bit if we're really being honest with ourselves, or is that just me? A good shoe though will provide a solid base for any outfit. Add a new season shoe fresh for Spring/Summer and voila any outfit is instantly updated. My new favourite is inspired by the 'Celine' V-cut, pointed shoe that fashionistas went crazy for and this season the high street has caught up.

Yes, they are man-repellers as I found out from my husbands face when I wore mine. But do we care?, no we don't! I'm well aware they are not to everyone's taste but for me that is exactly what fashion is all about. Don't wear it just because everybody else is wearing it, wear it because you love it.

Pointed Slingbacks  Next  £38.00
Also available in -
White
Black
Orange

Red is my power colour and instantly lifts any outfit. So it's no surprise I chose this pair from Next to add to my Spring/Summer wardrobe. They are super soft and easy to slip on and off (perfect for mummies out there like me...always in a rush!). I usually take a 5 1/2 in Next flats but I went for a 5 in these so you may want to size down slightly with them.

If red isn't for you but you fancy some colour then how about these lovelies from H&M. Yellow is most definitely the colour of the season right now, add them to a black and white outfit for a smart look or wear with light wash denim for a casual look.
**Check out my post 'And It Was All Yellow' dated 15/02/17 for more yellow inspo**

Slingbacks  H&M  £14.99 - black/lilac
Leather Slingback Flats  Marks & Spencers  £49.50 - black
Contrasting Flat Slingback Shoes  Zara  £25.99
Lychee Slingback Pointed Ballet Flats  ASOS  £18.00 - gold

If you like the style but don't fancy the slingback option there's still hope. As well as my red slingbacks I also have a pair of white v-cut shoes I picked up in the sales at Christmas. (Check out my Instagram feed for how I'm styling mine)

V-Cut Leather Ballerinas  Zara  £29.99 - nude
       Pointed Flats  H&M  £17.99 - black
Snake-finish Flat Shoes  Mango  £49.99

How about a heel for when you want to add a little spring to your step. The silver Zara heels (below) have 3 different big trends going on all in one shoe;
1. Metallics - fresh from the catwalk and championing the eighties vibe that is everywhere right now.
2. Fold down heel supports - not to everyone's taste but you can just as easy wear them up to secure your ankle.
3. Kitten heels - another one dividing opinion but if you like it, go for it and don't think to hard about it, style them exactly the same as you would a flat shoe in the same style.

Court Shoes H&M  £24.99 - black/grey/rst
Slingbacks  H&M  £19.99 - black
Suzie Pointed Kitten Heels Orange  ASOS  £20.00  - silver
V-Cut Heeled Shoes  Zara  £29.99
Slingbacks  H&M  £29.99 - snake print/khaki
Jessie V-Cut Mid Heel Shoes  Topshop  £59.00 - wine/grey
Gina V-Cut Flare Block Heels  Topshop  £56.00 - blue/black

Sticking with the eighties vibe here's a few other options if you haven't found your pick yet...

Patent Slingbacks  H&M  £24.99
Liana Pointed Ballet Flats  ASOS  £18.00 - apricot/black/gold
Silver Pointed Slingback Pumps  New Look  £18.99
Liana Pointed Ballet Flats  ASOS  £18.00 - apricot/silver/gold
Follow Up Slingback Points  Office  £69.00 - black

Now let's see how the pros are styling them, up...
