GINGHAM SPRING/SUMMER 2017

Gingham in Spring is almost as groundbreaking as florals I know, but this year the print has been reinvented. New collections see hem lines shifted, cold shoulders, ruffles, chokers, and all in a rainbow of colours. You name it there's gingham somewhere that has it, with your name on it.

Personally I'm a big fan and my recent purchases have only confirmed this. I did umm and ahh over this Topshop 'it' blouse, only because I seem to have this habit of ending up with all the pieces that seem to flood instagram and everybody else has. But I do love the ruffles, and the one shoulder detail and it will be perfect for Summer. And I got a discount code for my birthday, you can see where I'm going with this right....so yes I got the 'it' blouse!

Assymetric Gingham Frill Top  Topshop  £29.00

Stay tuned to my instagram to see my styling this one when the weather warms up. I'm already thinking, patent leather trousers and heels with gold accessories for a night out with the girls.
I also couldn't resist these Zara pieces, both of which will work well in the summer as well as now. I can't pretend I dont feel slightly childlike in the dress but it's so comfortable, would be great during pregnancy (I'm not talking about me here), and works well for now with tights/jeans. The top is an amazing buy, at just £15.99! It has extra long sleeves with button detailing and a choker neck. You may want to add a cami underneath as it is quite low cut.
TIP**Although it comes up true to size -I took a small, I did try a few on in the same size as the choker detail was too tight on a couple of them but perfect on another**

Gingham Check Top  Zara  £15.99                   Gingham Mini Dress  Zara  £29.99

If colour is your thing then gingham will not disappoint. I would stick with light denim and plain tees with these to let the print do the talking.

Blue Gingham Wrap Front Tie Waist Ruched Sleeve Top  New Look  £27.99
Gingham Ruffle Blouse  Pull & Bear @ ASOS  £27.99
High Waist Paper Bag Gingham Peg Trousers  ASOS  £30.00
Gingham Ruched Sleeve Top  Warehouse  £35.00
Gingham Top with Belled Sleeves  Zara  £29.99

For a more classic take on gingham stick with black and white. But this doesn't mean staying basic when it comes to cut and style. Think ruffles, ties, and frills....

Printed Dress  Mango  £19.99
Black Gingham Check Tie Waist Cropped Trousers  New Look  £24.99
Black Gingham Layered Blouse  SheIn  £14.69
Wrapover Skirt  H&M  £17.99
T-Shirt with Gingham Print Bandeau  ASOS  £16.00
Black/White Check Trench Coat  Next  £90.00

This trench coat is another 'it' piece available at the moment and looks amazing styled with a simple outfit of jeans and a plain tee. Add a bit of personality with a band tee and ripped jeans. For a pop of colour add red accesories.

Shell Top in Ponte with Gingham Bow Sleeves  ASOS  £25.00
Gingham Cropped Cotton One Shoulder Bralet  ASOS  £36.00
Frill Pinny Dress in Gingham  Reclaimed Vintage @ ASOS  £42.00
Black Gingham Metal Heel Pointed Ballet Pumps  New look  £12.99
Deconstructed Midi Skirt in Gingham  ASOS  £32.00
Stretch Slingback Heeled Shoes  Zara  £49.99

Gingham Smock Dress  Topshop  £49.00
Gingham Trousers  Zara  £39.99
Gingham Midi Dress  Glamorous @ Topshop  £45.00

Style gingham trousers with a yellow top to tick another trend off this season. See last months post 'And it was all yellow' for my pick of the high street.

Sally Gingham Cold Shoulder Cotton Top  Boohoo  £16.00

This top is another amazing buy for under £20, that will surprise you with its versatility. Layer it up with a white tee, jeans and trainers for day and when the sun goes down loose the tee and add some heels.

Style Inspo...If you're still not sure check out how the pros are styling the trend, **the skirts below are just like those above and the trench coat is an exact match!**

BLAZER EDIT SS17

Another wardrobe staple for Spring/Summer - the blazer. Throw it on over everything and anything. Dress it up, dress it down and bring out year after year. The most versatile of all is a black blazer. But if you want to mix things up, the high street is full of colours, patterns and cuts to suit everyone's style. I've down the hard work for you and shopped the high street for the best on offer...

Belted Blazer  &Other Stories  £165.00
Ruched Sleeves Blazer  Mango  £69.99
Straight-Cut Jacket  H&M  £24.99
Black Crepe Wrap Front Blazer  New Look  £24.99
Black Striped Sleeve Blazer  SheIn  £22.96
Split Cuff Blazer  Topshop  £49.00
Shawl Collar Blazer  &Other Stories  £79.00
Lace Insert Blazer  Topshop  £65.00
Bell Sleeve Jacket  Zara  £69.99

Just as versatile as black is....
**Navy perfect for the nautical trend which is huge every Spring. Just add breton, some red accessories and you're good to go.

**If grey is more your thing try styled with casual jeans and trainers or mix it up with shades of pink.

**A white blazer is a classic and will most definitely see you through each season (beware if you're as clumsy as me though - not the most forgiving).

Long Jacket  H&M  £34.99
Gold Button Blazer  Marks and Spencer  £49.50
Oversized Manly Blazer in Pinstripe  ASOS  £55.00
Plush Blazer with Contrast Piping  Zara  £59.99
Blazer without Lapel  Zara  £49.99
Ivory Ruched Sleeve Blazer  Miss Selfridge  £39.00

Check blazers are hot property right now and H&M have two of the best on offer for the new season. My favourite way to style is with a band tee and washed denim. But go for all black to dress it up for evening

Jacket with Frill Details  H&M  £69.99
Double-breasted Jacket  H&M  £39.99

New Season style is all about mixing it up and the easiest way to do this is to add new prints and patterns. Clash with other patterns or keep it classic with a co-ord. I love all the options below, but have the gucci-esque bee print blazer from Topshop at the top of my wishlist.

Floral Pyjama Jacket  Topshop  £65.00
Lark Print Blazer  Miss Selfridge  £65.00
Bee Blazer  Topshop  £59.00
Floral Vintage Jacquard Blazer  ASOS  £60.00
Feminine Blazer  Vero Moda  £38.00
Lotus Soft Blazer  Oasis  £55.00

To really brighten up the beginning of Spring, just add colour. Style with a simple outfit of jeans, tee, and trainers for instant daytime chic. For night time glam go for a co-ord, and pair with a bralet and heels.

Roll-up Sleeve Jacket  Zara  £69.99
Tailored Blazer  Pimkie @ ASOS  £24.99
Millie Mackintosh Ashes Blazer  ASOS  £100.00
Fitted Blazer  La Redoute  £49.00
Blue Bow Blazer  Miss Selfridge  £39.00
Relaxed Fit Jacket - Khaki  Warehouse  £49.00
Yellow Shawl Collar Blazer  SheIn  £23.78

Don't go without a blazer this season, get in on the trend and mix it up, here's a little more style inspo to give you some ideas...

AND IT WAS ALL YELLOW....

It's no shock for Spring that yellow is big news. But every year you hear the same thing; 'I can't wear yellow, its not my colour'. I had this very conversation with my mum this week and for a moment I agreed. So I thought I'd have a little look and try to prove myself wrong. And it seems this year there is a whole palette of yellows to choose from and so many different ways to wear it. So now no one has an excuse....

Lace Cropped Top  Zara  £19.99
Convertable Bucket Bag  Zara  £19.99
Narrow Belt  H&M  £4.99
Mustard Velvet Trim Ankle Socks  Topshop  £3.50
Jacquard Tuck Neck Blouse  Topshop  £34.00
Belted Paper Bag Wide Leg Trousers  Marks & Spencer  £35.00
Cluse La Boheme Full Black Mustard Leather Watch  ASOS  £79.00
Yellow Fitted Padded Puffer Jacket  New Look  £44.99
Shoulder Bag  H&M  £19.99

If you're not sure where to start then go for a mustard yellow. Accessories are a great way to introduce the colour into your wardrobe without having to worry if it flatters your skin tone. Otherwise try a trouser and wear with a plain black or white top to keep the colour away from your face.

Tipped Frill Crop Top  Topshop  £26.00
Skort with Slits  Zara  £17.99
Stretch Leather Ankle Boots  Zara  £39.99
Frilly Dress  Zara  £25.99

Don't limit yellow to daylight hours, this dress would be the perfect alternative to the LBD and look great with sharp black heels and a clutch bag.

Pointelle Rib Crew Neck Jumper  Topshop  £36.00
Ruffled Cotton Sweater  Mango  £29.99
Poplin Blouse  Zara  £25.99

Acidic yellow is at its best when styled with attitude. Think punk and add fishnets and shiny leathers to the soft silhouettes above.

Matte Croc Rivington Clutch  Whistles  £85.00
Round Frame Sunglasses  &Other Stories  £12.00
Yellow Vinyl Jamie Jeans  Topshop  £55.00
Yellow Letter Print Crew Neck Sweater  SheIn  £12.23
Yellow Roll Sleeve Split Back Duster Coat  SheIn  £11.41

For me though yellow is all about fun and that's exactly what these pieces are all about. Mix and match with other colours and patterns and spread the joy!

And here's a little dose of style inspo if you're still not sure...
